Magic Kits
Most magic kits are designed for people who don’t
know anything about how to perform magic, but would like to become magicians
or merely learn a few tricks to entertain their friends and family.
They are great for beginners as well who would like to add to their
bag of tricks. Often they are a combination of reading material complete
with illustrations and include a couple of small items that are commonly
used by magicians.
The most basic item usually included in magic kits is a deck of cards.
A regular deck of cards can be used to perform many tricks, usually
in front of a small audience or for an individual. There are more card
tricks than most people can learn in a lifetime. Another popular item
that is simple is a small rope. Rope tricks, involving knots and cutting
the rope and reattaching it are easy to learn for beginners.
Magic kits often have a few handkerchiefs as well, a very popular item
for the magician. A great way to hide handkerchiefs is in a rubber thumb.
The hanky can be stuffed into the thumb and then worn over the magicians
thumb, then the hanky can be pulled out of the thumb to create a trick,
just don’t let the audience get to close or they will see the
fake thumb. Other items could be metal rings and small plastic balls
which can be used for many tricks.
